Electrogustometer SI-03

The Electrogustometer is a state-of-the-art instrument that sets the world standard for electrogustometry. Provides a straightforward and rapid means for assessing taste function without the mess of chemical taste solutions. Threshold and suprathreshold testing can be performed. Discrete stimulus pulses can be presented ranging from 0.5 sec to 2 sec durations at currents ranging from -30 dB (.25 μA) to 35 dB (450 μA) in 12 total steps.

The Sensonics Electrogustometer is a state-of-art instrument that sets the world standard for electrogustometry. Provides straight forward and rapid means for assessing taste function without the mess of chemical taste solutions. Makes it possible to test discrete regions of the oral cavity. Optimal settings for both research and clinical applications

This instrument tests the gustatory nerves by producing a weak electrical current which can be precisely controlled. The device produces a constant stimulus regardless of differences among individuals in epithelial resistances. When the stimulus button is pressed an high tone is sounded if there is a break in the circuit, e,g., if the electrode is not touching the tongue’s surface appropriately.

Electrogustometer Features:

  • 10 selective constant current stimuli
  • 5 variable time durations.
  • LCD illuminating current and duration display
  • Low battery indicator
  • A single concentric electrode with selectable polarity
  • Automatically detects electrode disconnection in the circuit
  • Option to select anode or cathodal current
  • Batteries are replaceable by customer using dry cell AA Lithium or alkaline batteries.
